We are proud to announce that John Bolton, Head of Finance, has been shortlisted for the Rising Star of the Year (Qualified) at the 2025 Finance Awards North West.
The Finance Awards shine a spotlight on the talent and achievement across the region’s finance community. The Rising Star category celebrates those who demonstrate passion, focus, and exceptional delivery in their early careers.
John joined FGH Security in 2018 as a steward while studying Accounting and Finance at Lancaster University. From checking wristbands at some of the UK’s biggest festivals to overseeing the financial strategies of a multinational group, In just a few short years, John has progressed from Graduate Management Accountant to Finance Manager and now holds the role of Head of Finance—a position he was promoted to at the beginning of 2024.
Since stepping into his new role, John has led the creation of a group accounting structure and successfully set up companies in both the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Ireland. He has also played a pivotal role in the acquisitions of Mitre Training and Orka Group, acting as Finance Lead in both.
John’s insight has seen him sit on multiple FGH Group boards, where he contributes to key decision-making, assessing business risks, and shaping the future direction of our organisation.
A strong advocate of our value Look After Our Team, John mentors his department through weekly one-to-ones, offering development support and sharing his practical experience. He’s also passed all exams for the CGMA Professional Qualification on the first attempt and is now embarking on an Executive MBA at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, showing his commitment to our brand promise: Be Great Today, Better Tomorrow.
John is also a blood donor, recently receiving his ‘10 Donor’ certificate, and he completed the National Three Peaks Challenge, scaling the highest mountains of Scotland, England, and Wales in under 24 hours—all to raise money for charity. A true example of our core value, Give Something Back.
